How soon after dosing vibrant can I do a water change?

You are tossing out Vibrant with water change. Back of bottle says "'well taken care of clean, ... dose every 2 weeks' OR 'dirtier aquarium... once per week.'" What we did was FIRST do water change, then dose Vibrant... why add something just to toss it down drain...
