Vibrant causing cyano

I started dosing vibrant to get my hair algae and after a couple of weeks cyano started showing up, im pretty sure that vibrant caused this. Has anyone else had experience with this and what did you do. Thanks

the link between vibrant and cyano is undeniable, across Facebook and forums, thousands of reports.


but in our sand rinse thread, hundreds of cyano tanks weren’t using vibrant they were storing waste up.

just because it does have a link doesn’t mean vibrant isn’t fulfilling an important role in the hobby especially for large tankers.

Storing up decaying material (post vibrant breakdown internally) is a mode the aquarist can opt into or out of. Cyano can be cured by cleaning the tank. If we kill a bunch of algae and let it swirl about in a half decayed state, the next capitalist in line for the biomass isn’t a surprise. Happens with fluconazole too.

Did you bottom out your nutrients using vibrant?

I am having the same issue, but vibrant is taking care of my algae.

I claim the new formula is prior detritus + new detritus + decay = cyano, whatever causes the new detritus ranges post to post, in this case it’s vibrant

Probably your nitrate is zero.

Vibrant brought back dinos for me after destroying the hair algae. But thats my fault as i wasnt watching my po4 it zeroed on hanna checker while no3 was 150ppm
