After watching an episode of BRSTV decided I'm going too try vibrant to combat my GHA problem is it ok too dose other thing's like nutrient solutions and aminos as long as I'm spreading out the doses?

Searched it in the forum says the same thing I've mostly heard already try at your own risk some reefers have had corals get harmed from it some haven't so as far as me dosing it with other thing's I simply just won't don't appreciate some of you acting like I'm stupid instead of helping me which this site and forum are clearly for but if that's how you are going too put it won't be asking you people for anything anymore thanks for nothing

I think they were just trying to be humorous and not just making fun of you. Vibrant sucks and you will end much worse off then you are now. There are better natural ways to deal with GHA which to be honest is rather minor in the nuisance algae scale.

Ok thanks alot what are some ways I can beat it I know I can take my rock out and scrub it with peroxide but heard it will still come back I know it will take a while too beat I'm at peace with that just want a method that will work in eradicateing it completely over time

When I used a chemical (reef flux) to combat gha the cyano I ended up with was much worse and I did end up doing a rip clean to get rid of that. Give me gha over cyano any day.
I'm with @Lavey29 on gha. There are much worse thing but it seems like gha has become this terrible evil that everyone wants to eradicate rather than control.

How old is your tank and complete parameters?

I had a GHA jungle around month 5 to 8. It is a normal part of tank evolution. Cut lights to 6 hours for few weeks with blue and uv only no whites. Get diverse cleaner crew with tuxedo urchins and turbos. Raise magnesium to 1500 which helps kill off GHA. Lots of manual removal daily and with water changes. Dose pods and phytoplankton. Keep in mind this is not an overnight battle but 2 to 3 month war but it is also part of your tanks maturing process. Refugium is good to start also if you have that option

After about 3 months my GHA was all gone and replaced by abundant coralline algae so stay the course.

My tank is 8 month's old as far as parameters I would have too test but my nitrates have been at 0.0 for a while couple weeks at least phosphates are usually around 0.01 and as far as dosing pods I have a mandarin dragonet so he digests all my pods before they would be able too do anything but will do regular water changes is weekly still ok? Or more and will raise magnesium thanks alot for all your help

Bottomed out nutrients is a recipe for disaster. I have a mandarin also but can see lots of pods on my sandbed at night after lights out. Water changes just balance everything out like trace elements. GHA at 8 months is normal and will go away if you do your part.

There are probably other algaecides that are better for GHA than polyquat, which is what Vibrant is. If you want to use a PolyQuat, then get AlgaeFix or one of the other ones at 1/3 of the price.

BRS has been canceled with anything related to Vibrant - they pulled a few videos, but otherwise just ignored that they played a decently large sized role in all of this, so the rest of them canceled them for this thing. Ignore their videos on most things since they are pretty biased anyway, but especially on Vibrant.

If you use an algaecide or chemical, be prepared for the side effects which can be invert loss, dinos, etc. Some do not happen for weeks or months.

It doesn't matter if you have measurable no3 and po4, there are many other forms of nitrogen and phosphorous that are available to corals and algae. If you have algae that is growing, then you are not deficient on nitrogen or phosphorous... just put the test kits away until you get this battle under control.

Hello still have some gha but it's growth has slowed down significantly still have kind of a lot but no where near as bad as about 2 month's ago but wanted your opinion on wether I should scrub my rocks with a tooth brush too get it off or not I read that it's ok because I will be siphoning it out right after but even heard brs say not too because it spreads it more so your opinion?

You can, that's and option just do it in tank water in a bucket so you don't kill off your bacteria. I never did this just manual removal in tank.

Honestly though if things are going the right direction then stay the course. GHA is usually a 3 or 4 month battle the first year but when it goes away coralline will come in. Keep magnesium at 1500, manual removal daily, turbos and tuxedo and you will be fine. Let the tank do its thing. Focus on stability with good numbers.

in general, going a chemical route to fix something is not ideal. if you can beat it without going with routes that may or may not cause harm, then you are better off.
i ran into a GHA issue a while back and after coming to these forums, and doing my own research, i found that fixing it wasnt going to be a quick thing.
a few things i found is that manual removal is going to be required. i wouldnt use peroxide, because peroxide also kills bacteria. if you go that route, you cannot do all of the rock at once, otherwise you will run into other issues, so its just easier to go without that.
GHA grows with food and light, so you have to do something to change that. i found that a refugium, carbon dosing, and manual removal worked for me. when algae dies, it creates food for more algae, so if it isnt removed from the tank, it just continues with the cycle. the refugium gives algae a place where you want it to grow, and helps keep it out of the tank. carbon dosing helps remove the food that it uses to grow. the biggest thing that helped, as others have said, is manual removal.
