Question, have any of you ever used the Vibrant that says it is safe for reef aquariums ? Is it safe ? Have any of you had coral die because of it ? I have seen multiple opinions, but I would like to know what the reefing community thinks. I have it, but I am scared to use it, due to the negative things I have heard. Please weigh in and let me know your opinions.

Someone on this forum sent it to a lab and found out it's the same thing as API Algaefix, AKA gluteraldehyde. It's an algaecide. Nothing special about it. Ever since then the company fell off the face of the Earth.

Haha if you came here seeking a consensus opinion I feel you may end up disappointed.

Just recognize that it is a chemical algaecide and not the bacteria it claims to be.

If you want to use an algaecide, at least use one that is not misleading users: Algaefix.

Before we knew what it was i used it on a few occasions. The first time it worked great and everything was fine. Then I used it again and had some issues with coral but it could have been other things as well. Now that i know what it is, would i use again? Probably not with coral in the tank but if i had a new tank that was not stocked yet then i probably would use it to help an issue then basically change all water before adding coral…
