My cheato has been growing and healthy for a couple years. I started dosing vibrant again to slow down the mushroom explosion in my 75 and now my cheato is receeding. My shrooms are starting to receed too. If I continue with the vibrant my cheato will die off but the shrooms were killing corals. Such a dillema.

I've never heard of anyone trying to limit coral growth with vibrant. Now chaeto dying is a common result of vibrant. It's recommend not to run macros while dosing. Coral control is more of a manual procedure.

I am just talking shrooms. They float like butterflies but sting like bees. When you have hundreds they attack corals and in my tank always win. Like they are little Mohamad Alis.

Anyone else experience the same with loosing their chaeto while using vibrant?

Ill second I dont think vibrant is supposed to be used to control coral?? If it kills coral would that defeat the purpose of dosing in a reef tank or am I missing something here? I have read post where vibrant wipes out macroalgae.

Vibrant kills my chaeto every time, but slowly over weeks dumping its decaying material back into my tank, if I were you I'd remove it after you get replacement chaeto in, assuming you've done a significant w/c before. Do remove the chaeto before using Vibrant, put back in place after the w/c.

removing it seems like sound advise. For kicks I am going to put it in a bucket out in my solarium where it will get good sunlight and see if it survives.

Can I see this explosion of mushrooms?

Their numbers are dwidling. A couple months ago I did a guesstimate count of about 400 in my 75. Mostly metalic green but some blue ones too.
