I hate to revive a dead thread - but just wanted to comment that you solved a mystery for me!
I was starting to see green bubble algae showing up in my new tank (32G BioCube) - I dosed Vibrant for Saltwater Tanks (didn't know there was a different product for REEF TANKS!) starting 3 weeks ago (following the dose and instructions on the bottle). Started noticing blue leg hermits eating one head of a torch coral about a week after the first does - since then the torch is retracted and 2 more heads look like they're near death now - 1 is definitely a goner, the other might bounce back, 4th head still looks good. Just out of curiosity this morning I Googled "does Vibrant kill Torch Coral" - and found this thread. Mystery solved!
No other corals in the tank affected - zoanthids, sun coral, plate, toadstool, leather, leptoseris and acropora have been growing noticeably over the last 3 weeks. Have also noticed that Coraline algae is finally growing on rocks, and back wall over the last 3 weeks.
Green bubble algae is now gone, I won't be dosing Vibrant any longer. Hoping the 2 torch heads come back!
I was considering adding a very expensive orange hammer to the tank - that will be on hold for a few months now until I feel like enough water changes have removed the Vibrant from the H2O column!
Should have known it was too good to be true! I was liking the lack of having to worry about algae growth and was really considering adding a reduced dose of Vibrant to the saltwater I mix for weekly water changes - that's not going to happen now!
