I had battled a bad outbreak of what I would call white hair algae (a very pale filamentous algae, definitely photosynthetic and not a bacteria outbreak) for a few months. I was trying to starve it out by reducing nitrates and phosphates to absolutely zero levels and holding them there (a good technique for starving out algae, but also hard on corals), and was manually removing as much as possible with a scrub brush and siphoning the loose stuff out.
I was slowly winning the battle, but decided to see if Vibrant would finish it off. I gave the tank one dose of Vibrant on a Saturday according to the instructions. Seven days later there was obviously much less algae than there had been the week before. I gave the tank one more dose on the next Saturday (eight days after the first dose). Within the next 24 hours the algae was completely gone, and has stayed gone for about a month now. I have some chaeto in one of the rear compartments of the tank. Chaeto growth slowed after dosing Vibrant but appears to be healthy. I experienced no livestock losses or negative effects on livestock after using Vibrant.
My opinion is that Vibrant is a great product and I will continue to use it on an as-needed basis. Having said that, I do also want to point out that this product will not replace good maintenance habits and water quality. Take care of your tank, do all that you can to prevent, contain, or fight back an algae outbreak, and THEN add Vibrant to your approach and you will be very likely to see excellent results.
