I'm having very very strange issues. I dosed one 4 mil dose of vibrant and my alk shot up. Same thing happened about a year ago when I tried this. My hair algae isn't even that bad. So I'm done using this.
This isn't the first time I've done some sort of quick and dirty nutrient reduction and it's shot my alk up

Hello,

I would be hesitant to blame the spike in the Vibrant, but you never know. If you think it is the culprit I would run an alk test on it to so what it is at. Depending on tank size, 4 ml should not affect alk that much even if if carried higher alk.

Not saying it is not possible since I never tested it, but I mention it to say that you may just want to be sure we are not overlooking something else. Do you have an apex or something else that shows the spike and when it happened?

I always say go after the cause before jumping to a cure. Many folks have success with the product and it has a great name, but sounded like we could get it under control maybe With a little more CuC?

Shot up means from what to what?

Are you also adding alk supplements?

I may be alone here but any time I've done an aggressive nutrient reduction my alk shoots up.

from 10, to 10.6. Dosing all for reef. Dosage did not change

That's expected. Nitrate consumption produces alkalinity. 2.3 dKH of alkalinity is produces for each 50 ppm of nitrate reduced by consumption.

Many folks might interpret "alk shot up" to be a larger rise than 0.6 dKH, hence the reason to ask about the magnitude.

What are you testing with. Hanna, visual test kits, what time of day did you test? Are you dosing?
