Hi all,

Does Vibrant affect coraline algae growth? I have a new tank which I'm dosing Vibrant to, to keep out unwanted algaes. However, I'm seeing no coraline growth after 4 months.

Thanks!

Not in my experience, although I'd be hesitant to use Vibrant on such a young system (and I'm a big proponent of Vibrant).

If the light source is LED, LEDs commonly fry coraline as it grows (most of my coraline grows in shaded areas).

When I used it I did see a decrease in corraline algae growth and seemed to weaken the existing algae. Also my Alk consumption dropped quite a bit which I’m attributing to the corraline algae decline because my corals seemed to still grow at the same pace. Now that I have stopped using it corraline is starting to come back strong and my Alk consumption is starting to rise.

I am under the impression that Corraline algae is not actual algae. It’s just the name. Is that true?
