I’ve been battling single cell for some time. It’s almost brought me to the restart period and I’ve had my lights off for some time now but I was wondering would vibrant be able to beat it out? I’ve tried a few different chems and nothing puts a dent into it idk what else to do besides restarting at this point.

We have to know your water parameters first, namely nitrates and phosphates. Vibrant is not a medication. It’s a food source for bacteria which also needs a bit of nitrates and phosphates and probably a protein skimmer too in order to actually do anything productive.

What are you referring to as single cell? Bubble algae aka valonia?

My water has turned completely green. Another thread told me it was single cell.

My nitrates usually ran around 35-40 before I got the skimmer. Skimmer runs them down to around 15-20. The outbreak happened before I got the skimmer as well. Phosphates usually run around .1 as well on the nyos test kit

By the way Vibrant is not a food source for bacteria. It is a blend of bacteria with some aminos and a small amount of vinegar.

You tell me this and literally post bacteria food. The idea behind the aminos + vinegar is to compensate for low nitrates and phosphates in a system that would otherwise stall out bacteria propagation before a reefer hit the “zero” nitrates and phosphates they were told by the lfs to target. It’s quite literally bacteria prepackaged with a food source.

oh, I forgot - I was dosing once a day and nothing much happened, but then I changed to twice a day, same dose, not split dose, and then it cleared up
