So 2 Friday 2-21-20 I dosed 2ml of Vibrant in my Biocube 32. I went a little light on the dosage due to not knowing alot about it & reading here on the forum. Anyway, I saw no difference in the tank after a week. So 2-28-20 I dosed 2ml again. This morning I came in and my Cali tort that I have had for 2 plus years is half dead (fragging like crazy today) and the GHA has gone nuts. It is way worse than normal.

Anyone experience Vibrant making their GHA problem worse? Or killing Acros?

In my experience, when it kills algae, it releases toxic substances into the water, like hydrogen sulphide, so maybe try and run carbon to avoid this and manually remove as much algae as u can. Also, if you bought the 8oz saltwater formula it is more concentrated than the 16oz reef formula, so I wouldn't overdose. If I were you, I would do a big water change, go back to the regular dosage and wait until it begins to take effect. I think it took several weeks in the BRS investigates for it to do anything, and sometimes it gets worse before it gets better.

Thx. I dosed the 16oz reef, removed as much as I could over the past 2 weeks, but will continue. I can run some carbon on the tank, but I have a ton of acros & zoas and don't want to starve them out.

How’s your phosphate and nitrate ? If they bottomed out that could of done it. I’ve had no issue with vibrant and any type of coral. I’ve lost sps trying to lower nutrients to beat hair/bubble algae. Hit zero lost SPS but the algae survives just fine. Vibrant is the only thing that worked for me. But I do keep my nutrients up now. I stopped vibrant and the hair algae came back quick. I’ve started it again.

Everyone is half/half with vibrant. I dosed 3/4 the recommenced dose it’s so for 5 weeks. It worked on my GHA but GHA die off worked a number on my tank. I don’t blame vibrant but the die off and the dinos that ensued. I did a decent water change and changed carbon. Afterwards, things started to improve. I did notice all my SPS looked bad but better after the WC.

Yeah, I usually don't dose things into my tanks but the GHA on this one just wouldn't go away. Won't be putting it in my main tank, thats for sure.

I had an issue with hair algae and started using Vibrant. I cut the recommended dosage in half in my 180. All sps did fine and the algae is gone. I also threw in some turbo snails to make sure.

Took me 8 weeks doses to cure my algae woes. Initially I agree it almost appeared worse at first as nutrients released into the water column.

I always dosed following my water changes as to remove as much physical algae and detritus as possible. I believe it is helpful to combine Vibrant with careful husbandry together and of course if there are signs of stress to be even more attentive.

FWIW it worked fantastic for me and I still dose weekly after each water change.
