Hey guys, My female Midnight clown fish is turning to a very mean little creature. When I first got them (a pair) They were fine not agressive until I got an anemone. She only used to bite me when I got close to the anemone. I tried to feed my acans now and she bit me so hard it took some blood out of my wrist. I could not feed the corals. She was running after my hand. Anyway to make her stop this madness? Maybe put her on time out in my refugium?

My clowns bite me all the time; never drew blood and I have learned to ignore it:)

Can you feed the acans with a coral feeder? I only have to deal with that when I need to move the frags near the nems. There is no way to teach these jerks. They don't remember
;-)

It was with a coral feeder... But as soon as my hand got in the water She was chasing it lol

Have a Clarke clown up the road at the high school that use to bite my hand and he draws blood!!! He bites and twists .... I told the principle I would spear it and grill it! I got the Clarke to stop by chasing him every time he got near my hand. Mean I know but he now gives me a very wide birth and I can work in peace!

The male doesnt bite me. Only Her. She took a piece out of my wrasses belly. All the other fishes pass by the anemone with no problem, but when the wrasse go near it. He gets it good.

Yea the clown bit a chunk out of that damsel fish too. In all reality it's just territorial behavior your clown is saying this is my area you stay away or I'm going to defend my home, but that Clarke killed a bunch of coral taking them off rocks. I gave them a chalice coral the size of my hand and he flipped it off the Rock and buried it. I came back the next week and most of the chalice was dead.

Wow!

Ooooooo my favorite clown fish story.

I was messing around in my tank, my female clown bit me, my hand came flying out of the tank with the female clown still attached. She flew across the room, slid down the wall behind the couch. It probably took me 3-4 minutes to move the couch and retrieve her.

It got so bad she would try to jump out of the water to get me.

Finally I started using a clear sandwich meat container to catch her each time I worked in the tank, this went on for more than 3 years.

Here she is showing me her teeth.

You are being redundant after you mention clown fish in your title. Get a longer feeding tube so your hands do not go in the tank. The older they get the more ornery they get, kind of like some people I know.

Lol lucky She didnt die with the fall. I guess I not the only one here been bullied by the clows lol.

Glad your clown survived :) She has some great teeth :). Yea but a feeding tube doesn't allow me to add live rock, aquascape or glue coral on the rock.... so that clown and I would keep on clashing! Remember you're in charge not a little fish you can eat in a single bite!! Be the tank master not bullied by him/her [emoji41] my clowns at home are bold but polite :) a clown was my first fish I named him Krakatoa long before I had heard of these Krakatoa polyps. He is on his third girlfriend the other two were jumpers :( they're currently hosting some gold dust polyps but Krakatoa hoisted some shrooms for awhile

Just stay out of HER territory she will be happy lol I'm going to keep the tactile experience I get from grasping a piece of live rock and feeling, in a way, at one with the environment I've nurtured aaaaand occasionally getting jabbed by a fireworm lol
#no glove zone

I have been nipped a few times by clownfish.. they are fun and evil little critters.. the worst nibble I ever got was after my friend had his operation.. I was working on his tank, and his sail fin decided I was fish food.. it tried to swallow my pinky in the process of playing piranha... That was the last time I moved a coral and cleaned his glass for him..LOL
