Video of Ocellaris Clownfish Spawning

I've had this pair of amphiprion ocellaris clownfish since they were very small. One grew a lot and became female, the other grew a little and became male.

They originally hosted the tank heater, then a xenia colony, and finally, a couple years ago, decided the finger leather is their home.

They're about 4 years old now, and about a year ago they decided the glass wall next to the finger leather was a fine place for eggs. They've been laying eggs regularly since.

This video was shot on a Canon 7D with a 100mm macro lens, as well as on a Canon S95.

The close-ups stills and video were shot with a Canon 7D DSLR and a 100mm macro lens on a tripod. I had to manually focus and crank the ISO up to 1600 - these guys don't lay eggs until just before the dusk lighting turns off, so the only lighting is a couple actinic T5s. The far video shots are hand-held with a Canon S95 point & shoot camera. The video and stills were thrown together in iMovie.

I've been hoping to catch this on video/photos for ages, and last night I noticed they were cleaning the glass so I grabbed the camera gear and got set up just in time!
