Hey I can't get windows movie maker to recognize my sd card from my video camera.

Any ideas??

Are you trying to open the file, on the camera... while in movie maker I assume? Have you tried coping the movie to your hard drive and then opening it from there?

Yes I have tried both ways. It won't recognize the camera or the card in the sd slot on the computer.

Ok to start from the begining,
1. Is your computer on?
2. Is your power cord plugged into the wall securely?
3. Is your screen working properly?
4. I'm just kidding :)

Hmmm... Not recognizing the SD slot, but I assume if you replay it on your camera there's information?
Try a different USB opening?
Did you read the instructions on how to format the camera/sd to windows?

Hmm, interesting. Sounds like my external HD when I upgraded to windows 7... just does not work anymore haha.

Sometimes I run into issues with this - the memory card reader stops recognizing. Have you tried rebooting Rev? Just a thought - works for me most of the time. Sounds simple but it could be something that easy....

Have you tried a different card to see if it works? Might rule out whether it's a driver problem or just something wrong with the card.

SD cards don't require installation of drivers. Are you able to view the video on your camcorder?

Take a look at the contacts on your card and reader. Sometimes the card slot gets a little dust ball or grit in there that makes for a bad connection. Also, I've had a couple old cards where the contacts were worn out by sharp pins in the card reader.

Other than that, the next worry is that there's something wrong with your computer hardware. I assume you're using USB to connect the camera? Most comps have their card reader and USB devices running on the same board (perhaps not as many with Firewire, tho). Try a flash drive in the same opening and to see if that's the culprit.
