Hello! Im trying to clean my Vectra m2 and my Vortech MP10. As well as clean out a new/used tabk that has some buildup. Ive read forums that say vinegar is the best and others that citric acid is better. Both side seems to have their own faults. Vinegar is suppose to damage Vortech's plastic casing where as citic acid is difficult to get a high enough concentration to clean/soak things in. Im kinda lost and was hoping if I could get some guidance on this. Thanks!

To be honest, I'm surprised anyone has any issues with citric acid. Takes just as long to clean my mp10/mp40 in citric acid as vinegar. I've never noticed any difference in dissolving coraline algae between vinegar, citric acid, or diluted muriatic acid.

What ratio do you use when soaking? Do you you rodi or just tap?

Just tap water with citric acid- I rinse off after soaking in either RO or more commonly, old SW I have from WCs.

I used to measure it out and followed Randy's minimum of 1/4lb per gallon (which is roughly equivalent to 14 grams per 2 cups, the size of the container I used to soak my wet sides in ). Now I just eyeball it. If you buy the 5lb bag off amazon ($15), you'll have enough to last you many many years soaking small pumps/wetsides. Might go through it a bit quicker soaking larger bulkier returns or special preparations for soaking long heaters ( I clean my heaters every three months).
