Vintage Tropic Marine Salt

I was moving some things around in my garage today, and came across an old TM salt bucket. I often store things in used salt buckets, and when I opened it up to see what was inside, I was siurprised to see that it actually contained salt! I have no idea how old it is...maybe 10 years, maybe 15. Could even be 20 years old for all I know (I started my first sw tank in 1997). The bucked is maybe a third full. Would you use it?

I would imagine it's rock hard. No?

If it’s not clumped I’d use it. I’d likely use it on a qt or something.

If it's still loose flowing salt, I'd use it. If it's a brick, it would only be good for the salt protion because the alk/calc portions has since married to form calcium carbonate....insoluble.

Maybe brine sauerkraut with it.

I'd make a batch and test it.

Surprising it is still pretty normal. Some clumps that break apart easily when I squeeze it. I’m thinking I probably won’t chance it on the tank. But brining sauerkraut on the other hand....
