I have a 125 gallon and I have 3 165 W Vipars for it, I need help from anyone who uses these and what their schedule looks like and their blue and white power settings they are running.

Thanks

whoah, 3 x 165 on a 125 gallon, i guess, depending on what you are intending on growing.

Search the threads for Chinese black box, plenty of users here and discussion of power settings and timings.

Check out this thread for good info on the Viparspectra:

Also, BRS just did a comparison of some “black box” lights, and mentions their Viparspectra recommended setup in the video below:

I would work the lights up to 30 blue and 1 white and evaluate from there. With maybe a goal of around 60 blue and 15 white depending on what your keeping for live stock. But still a with out a par meter it's just guessing.

I put my Vipars up tonight on my custom mount bar and wall booms, took the advice from BRS and set them at 40cm pics shown are 2 x 165 watt @ 80/20, more than good enough for my regals and lps

also check out @telegrahm on instagram and you tube. If you want some easy modifications to not have to mount so hi off the tank. I have always mounted mine at 16" above the tank and if your going for SPS work up to 50% blue and 15% white. Max. with stock lenses these things are par monsters. Should give about 350 Par at the top and 120 ish at the sand bed with those settings. I have also always swapped out the stock lens's for 120 degree lenses. On a 125 with it being narrow you could keep the 90 degree lenses on at the edges but 120 degree lenses would mix the center light better.

Just be careful with any height below 14 inches as BRS said. I believe what they say about the little cones of light possible cooking corals, as ive lost a few pieces i could not explain. Ive had a few pieces completely bleach on both sides of my tank while pieces a few inches away are just fine. My lights were at around 10 inches at that time and im pretty sure it could have been those corals were under a cone of green/red/ uv cone who knows.

Have a VP 300 watt over my 55. Nems, xenia, kenya tree, shrooms, ricordea, frogspawn, staghorn
Run mine 60% blue and 50% white. Blue on for 12 hours and white about 9.

I like how the 80/20 looks, but still don’t have a clue ab how the timers work on the lights

I run mine 8" above the water and 16" to the top of the rock work. 40% blue on for 12 hours and 1% white on for 6 hours. I measure 450 to 500 par across the top and 175 to 250 on the bottom. 24" deep tank.
