Viparspectra 165watt, Anyone using these?

I'm wondering if taking all the lenses off will be best for me then as this tank only has LPS and Soft.
Done that too, drops par about 50% if not more....I actually run a diffuser with mine which helps a little but if you remove the lenses you will drop the par in half but it does look better...:)

I work Viparspectra lights over two reef systems. You can keep anything under these. I keep clams healthy under these lights. They make lights for plants too.

If these lights are as strong as they say they are, then dropping the par in half probably isn't a bad idea LOL

Yea but it makes a fairly electrically inefficient light (compared to high end diodes) even less efficient.
Best just to add the lenses plus a diffuser.
This material seems fairly common:
Smooth side to the diodes.

It is a great light if you don't mind no frills and limited adjustability. Grows everything.

I run something similar to that diffuser....seems to work for me :)

roger... My lenses should be here by the 20th. I'm supposed to work on the mounting stand this week. I'll make sure that I have the diffuser material as well. Will I have to run higher values with the 120's + diffuser? I was originally going to do 30% blue 1-5% white. And I'll still target am 18inch mounting height to start. We're goin to try to make the stand tall enough to allow up to 24 inches if needed.

Visparspectra I run 14” above water at 70%blue, for each 24” cube of water. I don’t use their white light.
I get the “whites” from 2 Aqueon Halos and 3 T5’s.
I get a consistent 350-375 at the surface, 175-225 mid and 100-120 bottom, 75 in the corners.

I just fired up my light to setup the timer and ch1 ch2 %s and noticed that my channels are only able to be adjust in 10% increments. Am I missing something because I keep seeing people refer to 1% - 5% increments.

Watching some videos and I see single digit increments as well. Also mine has an AM / PM setting, not military time. I'm totally confused now.

Just saw this on my Amazon purchase.... RIP.... guess I'm not using this light now.
The V165 165W LED Aquarium Light was updated to the new version from October 30th, 2022. The intensity interval of the new version is 10%, while the old version is 1%.

Any chance so.eone would be willing to contact me and help me set these up about to give up on them

I have a 40 gallon breeder.. I run for 5 hours whites (40%) and 5 hours blues (60%) whites come on first.
I'm about to set up my 40breeder and am looking into these lights. Do you find 1 light covers the entire tank with no dark corners, or should I get two for full coverage?

I really like mine but I heavily modified it, removed most white led's and have it being run from reef-pi which allows me to ramp up and down. You could do one light but will have to hang a little higher and par will drop off to the sides so it depends on what you want to grow etc...They are really bright stock, whites are really overpowering but they will grow whatever you want.

You could go with 2 lights or one of the longer units but then will have to turn them way down if you run 2, here is a thread speaking about them and a 40 breeder - https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/how-many-viparspectra-over-40b.882407/

I would only get 2 if I was growing acro. That's just me though.
