I have a Biocube 32inch tank and have recently bought an already unhealthy sea anemone. I found out the light in the aquarium isn't great for them so I panicked and bought a viparspectra 165w light. My wife likes the tank so I cut a hole out of the lid and placed the new light in it. My light that's supposed to be 8 inches away from the water is now 2. My anemone seems much happier and has gotten more color back, finally anchored himself down and his tentacles are growing back! After about 5 days now and he sends to be running away from the light. Is my light ok being so close to the water? Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts on improving anything? I appreciate any help or info i can get!

I run same light, I have mine 14" off the water, at 70% blue and 5% white I get 300 par 6" under the water. The light is good, but at 2" keep it dialed low

Do you think the light is mixing enough? I wrapped tin foil around the top edge of the light to see if it would help, if it did, it didn't very much. I still have cyano growing in my tank so maybe it's good enough ‍♂️ thanks for the input. I've been trying to find numbers to compare it to being 12" of the water so that's a huge help! Thank you!

Heres my tanks, Light will grow coral, cyano is flow, phosphates or nitrates problem

Beautiful! I haven't checked phosphates or nitrates in the last couple days but they've been solid at 0 for the past couple months. I would bet it's flow. I have my power head and have 1 small circulation pump in a cube 32gal tank. I might just need to buy another pump. I can't seem to keep a good flow all around the bottom of the tank

0 isn’t good. Cyano loves 0, my nitrate is 20 my Phosphates is .15 I have a reefbot it test every Wednesday at 2pm. I run blue 5am-9pm white 10am-5pm

you could try less lighting, I have the same controller in my ocean revives which are similar power, and at 10" above the tank I nuked a lot of corrals running to much intensity. I now run 10% blue channel and 1% white on a 210 g 30" deep tank and now everything is growing. Most people do not realize to much light is bad, its better to run less then to cook everything.
