I didn't want to hang my lights from the ceiling. I also wanted to be able to adjust the height. I've seen a lot of different ways to hang/mount lights but this is my version.
It allows me to adjust the lights 8" - 18" above the water. It also has the added benefit of being swung out to the side.
I bought an adjustable TV mount like this one
I then built a frame out of aluminum square tubing I had, brazing the pieces together.
The center bar is where I attached the TV mount, it gives me more adjustability since the mount is extended more, also balance.
The lights are attached to aluminum square tubing that has been cut so they basically sit on the front and rear bars. In case I need to remove the lights or adjust them left or right.
I offset the wall mount for 2 reasons, one to hit a stud and two, to have more motion of the arm since it is extended. You get the most vertical motion with it extended at least partially.
I thought about putting panels around it for a floating canopy look but I kind of like the look now. Light spilling is my only concern but at this time it is not an issue.
