Has anyone else ever had any aquaforest products make your skimmer overflow?

I have had it happen twice now on nights when I dose Amino Mix and Vitality.

I'm pretty sure it is the Vitality, but I'm not positive. When I next dose these two I am going to try to narrow it down.

Just wondering if anyone else has seen anything like this.

On a side note, how many people turn their skimmer off when they dose? And if you do for how long?

Hello,
Are you using AF Energy also?

AF energy is fatty food that's why is good to dose it firstly to make skimmer fall down and then there is no need to turn skimmer off.

I dose Energy and Build on the same day, and Amino Mix and Vitality the next day. So every day I am dosing two things either E+B or A+V every night.

I payed closer attention last night and it definitely seems to be the Vitality that is causing the problem. Is this a common issue?

I bought a second bottle of Vitality, I might try using that one tomorrow and see if it also has the issue.

So I am still having this issue. For now I just manually turn my skimmer down before I dose vitality. Should I be dosing Energy before Vitality?

Anyone else have this issue?

Interesting !!! Am using Aquaforest ABVE and way more than recommended but never had my skimmer go nuts ..
Dosing is AA + V on one night followed by B and E on the next day and then repeated.
I personally give Sunday a break !!!
Its a Deltec ofcourse which is a super stable skimmer on par with Bubbleking and ATB .

Don't think you should dose V and E together !!

Regards,
Abhishek

I am using a Nyos Quantum 160. It is no Bubbleking, but it is by no means a slouch.

I just dosed vitality and amino mix for the first time last night and didn't experience anything. I don't remember which I dosed first though. I'll dose vitality first tomorrow night and let you know what happens. Does it do the samething if you dose the amino mix first then vitality?

Energy did make my skimmer drop (stop foaming) for a little after dosing it but is recommended to use together with Build.

What's the routine you are following for the additives ?

Abhishek

I dose Amino Mix and Vitality together, then on the next day I dose Energy and Build. So I dose each combination every other day.

Yeah, it seems to happen no matter what order I do the dosing.

Very weird and I have never seen any impact in my tank with respect to the skimmer . There's definitely something else in teh water thats interracting with Vitality and causing it to overflow. Also, some skimmers are very touchy and not as stable as a Bubbleking or ATB .
Does it overflow with only Vitality dosing without AA ?

If you cant a solution, only thing is to program teh skimmer to go offline for 1 hour or so while dosing.

Abhishek

I am running BRS GFO+Carbon in a reactor. I will actually be switching to the AF carbon and GFO once this batch gets depleted.

I am also dosing kalk. Besides that I am not really using any other additive or supplements. Unless it is something to do with the HW MarineMix Reefer salt I am using. I plan to also switch to AF Salt once I get through my current box of salt.

I'm going to be siting to AF for salt also. I actually received my bucket yesterday and will do a 10% water change this wknd.

Are you going to use just their salt or their reef salt? I bought their reef salt since I have only a few sps with LPS. Their Probiotic salt is for more sps dominant tanks. I imagine I'll eventually switch to the Probiotic salt.

Hi re76

I'm having the exact same problem as you and also using the exact same skimmer. I now dose and turn off my skimmer and turn it back on the next evening to prevent any accidents.
Did you manage to find a solution to this problem? If so i would love to find out as i am new to AF dosing and would appreciate to guidance very much
Thank you
