I've read that Vitamin C will improve the growth of zoas. Anybody try this? I know its another project that needs research like vodka, but wondering if anybody had any results with it.

Thanks. I'm curious on how this would effect a tank that is already dosed heavily. I dose vodka, MB7, Magnesium, kalk and strontium.

I have used it in the past but I never saw any difference, I don't use any of the vodka or mb7 so I can't comment on those.

Is there a reason you dose so much?
I am using a teaspoon of buffered sodium ascorbate per day. Some zoas that would only part way open are fully open, and some that were a bit faded look better

Also if you are dosing vodka, then Vitamin C is also a carbon source so you would have to adjust your dosage accordingly.

My tank is SPS dominated, which is what I dose for. Didn't know if the vitC would help with doing vodka dosing.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that. If I decide to try this out, Ill keep that in mind.

^^ agree with Paul, from what I've read, the two can't be mixed - you either dose one or the other. Could be wrong, as I don't dose either, but everything I've read on the vodka or Vit C indated that.

I dose Vit C. It makes my skimmer pull NASTY junk (finally getting my moneys worth lol) as for growth . . . I'm a nerd and keep track of polyp count, I'm 2 months in on the vit c. and none of my zoas are popping babies out of the norm. I get the basic baby making =(. One thing to watch is your dkh and alk, i did see spikes in those.

Thanks. My zoas are still growing very well in my tank, but I wanted to get some information for my buddy who is trying to propagating some zoas. Plus, he has my Captain America colony in there too :)

I dosed vitamin C for about 6 months and never really saw much of an improvement. During this 6 month period, I began vodka/MB7 dosing about halfway through and it didn't seem to have any ill effects, but nothing positive either.

Thats swannyson7, appreciate the advice. I don't think I'd try this, as it looks like too many people have tried with little results.

Well I bought the iherb vc and have started dosing today so when will I see any difference
