I have heard of people dosing buffered vitamin C to aid with color on soft corals. Would this help or harm SPS corals? Is there enough benefit to dose it, and if you did does it just for your softies and had SPS would it harm them? Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Vitamin C= L-Ascorbic Acid. I would assume dosing Vitamin C would effect the PH/Alkalinity of the tank. A 5% solution of vitamin c in water has a ph of 2.2-2.5 . I heard of people adding it to the food but not dosing directly into the tank.

Some people have had negative experiences with this form of organic carbon dosing. So be careful with it, if you choose to experiment with it.

IMO, it won't do anything unusually useful that other carbon dosing does not, but bear in mind that it may slowly boost alkalinity. :)

Buffered vitamin C is not acidic. :)
