Intro:
Recently I have turned my tank into a Zoa/Paly/Softie/Shroom frag tank but im primarily focusing on Zoas/Palys.
I’ve been searching around for more info on improving growth of Zoas/Palys
My system is a barebottom, no fish tank that use Chaeto (that I haven’t really see a difference with so I might get rid of soon)

I have:
Utter Chaos (single polyp that popped out 3 new polyps in 3/4 of a month!!)
Psychosis
Fat Head Dendro
3 little pieces of Orange Plate Coral
Basic CUC (hermits, snails)
Planning to get rid of hermits soon they like to hang onto my Corals

Question:
I hear some noise about Vitamin C dosing to improve Zoa/Paly growth/coloration(?) and I’m wondering:
how it works?
what product y’all use?
Does it hurt other coral?
Ok to use with AquaForest powered system?
Ok to use with weekly feedings?
Other things I should probably know of

If you would like to know my water Params I’ll send.

Definitely shows improvement, but it is a carbon source, so it's like you're carbon dosing. In fact, that's why I dosed vitamin c for years in different tanks. You need to keep an eye on phos/nitrates so that you don't completely deplete them.

I no longer use it because I have a terrible problem in my current tank with having any phosphate. I need to dose phos daily and I don't want anything more competing for it. But it worked great in two past tanks.

I only ever dosed every day/every other day, so I'm not sure what effects you might get with less frequency, but I don't think it would hurt to try small doses once or twice a week.

I used food grade powered and buffered sodium ascorbate.

And here's a calculator/more info

That’s awesome information thank you! Seems like I’ll have to grow chaeto somewhere else so it won’t absorb more nutrients. I really appreciate the info!

This is interesting, never heard of it before. Maybe I could use it in my system being that I have a lot of zoas and high nutrients?
Kale u trying it too? Maybe it’ll solve JF BloodShots unreasonable melting.

I started dosing early last summer after seeing the results a fellow reefer experienced. IMO it does aid in growth, resilience, and over all zoa health. Thanks @Stephers for the calculator. Another member on the forum had done the math for me manually but I'm right in line with what the calculator suggests. I've got ~330 total gallons and aim for 5ppm. I initially dosed twice a day but since its not practical I now only dose in the evenings around lights off. I feed fairly heavy so I haven't had an issue with low nitrates or phosphates. I do believe it causes the protein skimmer to pull more material from the aquarium. Its definitely worth a shot.

About the skimmer -- there's no doubt! It's highly recommended you have a good skimmer if you're regularly dosing.
