Hoping someone can help me. I had a big colony of vivid rainbow delight for almost a year. Had it higher up in a 300 gallon mixed tank. The colony would never color up, so I lowered it to the sand band. It obviously did not like that and started to RTN, so I heavily fragged it today. I think I saved some of it. Anyone have any hints as to how I can get this thing to color up?

Parameters and lighting/schdule?

Have 3 Radions XR 30’s in an ATI T5 hybrid plus two reef brite strips. Radions run 12 hours and T5’s for about 4 hours. Phosphates are .07, Nitrates 5.4, Alk 8.5, temp 78.

That's a tough piece to color up. I've found stability to be the key. I have several colonies all of which are under 400-450 PAR.

Don't take it personally. Many cannot get it to color up. Your best chance is lots of daylight with NSWish parameters with heavy feeding. It just might never get there, so don't sweat it.

What’s NSW?

I had a nicely colored one a few years back. It took a long time and it based out a lot before it did anything. Kept in high par. I recently got another one for my newish tank. Placed it high again. Looks decent. Only had it a month. We’ll see. Like others said. It’s a tough one to color.
