Agree about the blue. When at LFS i always ask to see the coral under normal lighting. I don't care what the coral will look like at night.

I also bought a acro from a LFS. They said they could not ID it since it was brown and did not look like any of their colonies. They aquaculture some high end stuff so i bought it. After months it is looking promising. Violet base with greenish tips. Still has more coloring to do yet. But i think it is s type of rainbow.

A friend purchased (2) JF fox flame frags. The will be jaw dropping in a year or so. Now they are as ugly brown as the rainbow acro frags area. He knows they will color up but he hates knowing he paid $500 for 2 brown sticks. It must be something about highly colored acro's.

I have both. I will do it tomorrow and see what happens.

This colony is a frag grown from therman's colony. I threw it on the tank bottom while I decided where to mount it. I expect it will be much nicer once it has a permanent spot higher up.

Nice, it looks pretty awesome right where its at.

Bump, anyone have pics of Vivid's Rainbow Delight or tip and tricks on coloration. My frag is slowly coming around, but just not where it needs to be.

With all the new fancy named and branded acros out there (few of which hold up to expectations)... this one is a dark horse, one of the most underrated in the trade. I've found that large, multi-branched frags hold their color quite well and fully color up much quicker than smaller frags (1.5" or less). I guess this proves true for most acropora, but seems especially effective with this one.

This is a very cool acro and way underrated. I have seen multiple colonies of it, even in Vivid Aquarium where it was first labeled. It is interesting that frags seem
to universally brown out, encrust and then color up. It is one of the prettiest acros especially when viewed top down. I got a frag from vivid aquariums a couple of months ago and it is just beginning to color up now

My colony is about 5x6 and has been growing out over last year. I started with a good size frag, and really in the last few months it is starting to really shine... It is in 300 par of lighting in heavy flow...It took 4-5 months to encrust a big base and now the growth tips are really coming in with the vivid colors I was hoping for...

Here is mine on the right. WWC Blueberry on left. I've had these for maybe a month or 5 weeks. The WWC is coloring up nicely, but the VRD is still a brown stick. It's trying to encrust the base so I hope it colors up soon. I will say that hearing all of the experience in this thread that I feel it will.

The color on mine shifts around a bit, depending on how much I am messing with it or my tank in genera

Here's a close-up when the polyps looked especially nice.

Don't worry if you don't get color for a while. This thing is notoriously brown until it decides not to be. I've grown out two frags and each time they were brown for six months or more.

I will be patiently waiting! It's hard to believe this little brown frag has the potential to look like the rest of the corals in this thread. The red polyps in the post above are just plain beautiful! I did move it over a few inches into a little more flow and the polyps are extending better now. Currently irs about 10 inches from a 6 bulb TEK Elite T5 with ATI bulbs, so it should be HIGH par!! When I get the Reefbrite blue strip it should help the color even more.
