Vlad's Shroom Room

9/19/20 UPDATE: Picture day. Some more shrooms took permanent residence. Here are some of my fav shots from earlier today:

You sir, have an awesome collection. So flow helps with the bubbles in your opinion?

Thank you. Yes, in my opinion, low flow lets the shrooms bubble more. There's less bouncing around and deflating.

Update plz!!!

Unfortunately I don't have too much to update on. Shrooms started not to do well in the new setup, so I moved them back to the frag tank. Letting it mature more until I get back to relocation livestock sometime in December.

Dang, was hoping it was progressing. I just started what I consider my shroom tank and was curious how yours was coming along.

I know you said low flow, but no power head?? Got me thinking about turning my mp10 off lol.. I can't though because I have a nem in my tank..

12/12 UPDATE: Back from vacation, tank did not like me being away for 3 weeks. Glass covered in algae. Mushrooms that are in there are not too happy, most likely from the insanely high phosphates. Here's the plan for this week:
1. scrape the glass
2. vacuum the substrate
3. two 15 gallon water changes - don't want to go too heavy to upset things more
4. xPort Po4 media to help with the Phosphate removal.

Wish me luck!

1/12/21 UPDATE: This update is not the most exciting out of the bunch. Lost many shrooms due to vacation and inevitable Phosphate increase into 0.5 territory. We were overdue for a break from 2020, and ended up leaving for 3.5 weeks. Lack of water changes did the damage unfortunately, but on to the road to recovery. Part of the cleanup - Chemiclean treatment to get rid of Cyano. Welcome Dinos. :) It never ends.

New equipment in the tank:
Tunze 9004 DC Skimmer - this was honestly overdue, and part of the reason for Phosphates getting out of control.
MP10QWD - trying to figure out what all the mobius blowback is about. Honestly not the worst software in the world if you take the time to figure it out.
Auqa Shield UV Sterilizer Midsize - this one will be interesting. I hope it fits into the sock holder, and, that it actually works. :)

Good to see you back buddy. Also good that you have an army of back up shrooms in this instance.
Thanks @LRT. Nothing that I didn't expect to be honest. I knew the risk of adding all that livestock to a new tank. Bad news - lost some big shrooms. Good news, they all left over small babies that will grow.

Love the tank!!! Wanted to thank you for the “package“ you sent me, everything is looking great!, I feel like a new father caring for his nursery :) I noticed you purchased a new MP10QWD for your new mushroom tank. Does that mean you have changed your stance on very low flow for your mushroom tank?

You are very welcome - enjoy them.

I am still running very low flow in the frag system, just moving the water around for nutrients. In this tank, I added am mp40 to deal with cyano. I will see if I run it long-term.
