I have very low phosphate and nitrate in my sps tank, but my red slime grows like crazy. I have huge flow in my tank, but can't stop it. I wonder if vodka dosing contributes to the increase of red slime. Would decrease in vodka dosing kills acros? I have read that stop dosing would kill sps. Thanks for your thoughts!

Red slime is a bacteria so yes it can. Adding carbon to a tank does not just selectively choose a bacteria, it will affect all bacteria good or bad.

Also cyanobacteria is not actually a bad bacteria it is just unsightly and sometimes can grow on corals. It actually servers a purpose and use up phosphate and other nutrients in a reef and helps stop phosphate from binding to your sand or live rock which can create a larger problem latter. The way to rid cycno is lowering the nutrients.

Yea, one of the side effects of Dosing Vodka is Cyano. It should come and go though. I don't see it in my tank anymore. Dosing should help color up your corals, not kill them. And stopping the dosing, wo'nt kill anything, unless you let the Nitrates go right back up. Its all about the parameters.
