Vodka dosing to kill cyno

My nitrates and phosphate read zero, but I have a case pf cyno and algae. My tank is over a year and a half, will vodka dosing remove the nitrates locked in the cyno and help to kill it?

Carbon dosing vodka may actually fuel the cyanobacteria.

cyno is bad bacteria and yes vodka dosing is fueling carbon to both good and bad bacteria.

cyno is a sign that the tank is doing a HARD recycle.....so what has changed?

more feeding?
less WCs?
new lights?

I twice a year use Dr Tim's waste away good bacteria and then keep the good bacteria thriving with a daily 50/50 vodka vinegar dose

If you fully clean your tank, top to bottom, removing all the detritus which will currently cloud if you reach in and grab/move things, that'll kill it along with removing it's food source. Any type of dosing or param adjustment suppression is half the prevention, it leaves the clouding fuel in place for the next successive invader. People resist cleaning, but it's best says big threads collecting the outcomes


Cleaning correctly cures cyano, it's easy to clean out if the keeper doesn't want to hang onto it otherwise.
