I finnally got the proper reciepe for doing this.No matter what size tank this works.Instead 1ml for 3 days then increase so on and on.
Here is what I found that works.Tools required may vary depending on coral. You need the following.
1.hammer
2.razor for cutting tissue
3.bone cutters
4.measering device aka(shot glass)
5.lastly vodka
First you gather all tools needed, place on work station, remove coral from tank & place on work station.Fill measuring device, decide where to cut coral. So now your ready. Now cut coral where desired, empty measuring device by swallowing it.Repeat this untill coral is totally fragged, magic liquid is gone or bleeding.
HAPPY FRAGGING!!!!!!!!!!

OK, now the vodka quit working so now I have moved on to Tequila followed by Rum&Sprite dosing.I keep seeing more frags than there really is.Might be time to stop dosing.

H@rry, what are you dosing with?I bet I can guess. On a serious note I have read all kinds of stuff on this and can't make up my mind on what to do.With all the tanks I have I would go through alot of boozs.I do anyway but I feel the afffects. After a while the snails do clean in a straight line.(I think). What is everyones take on the true method of dosing?

From what I can gather, vodka dosing (or sugar, pineapple juice, vinegar, etc) provides an increase in carbon that fuels bacteria to consume nutrients in the tank. When that has happened, you can then introduce all of the nutrients that you want (amino acids, etc.) that will result in increased coral growth an coloration.

Again, from what I can gather, this is a method of micro managing your tank parameters. I have heard of people experiencing cyano, strings of slime, burning of acro tips, etc. If you do it right and you're lucky, you'll have killer acros. But on the other hand, it's kinda like operating a dairy; you can't go anywhere!

I'm all about keeping it simple. I run calcium reactors and I do weekly water changes. That works for me. I don't want it to get any more complicated than that.

I wonder if in years to come we'll look back at this with the same comments we have about some of the things we did in the past. I remember undergravel filters (I bet none of you have been in reefs long enough to remember that), plenems, deep sand beds, shallow sand beds, and now bare bottoms.

If you find something that is working for you, if you are getting good growth and coloration, leave it alone. If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.

Just my 1 cent, but let's hear from Beelzebub!

I remember undergravel filters.I have been just tring to get the best color and growth.

Hi guys. Usually if someone burns the tips of their SPS while dosing their Alk is to high. Best to keep it about 8-9 while dosing.

How could I possibly expand on that?

+1

Paul B has a 39 years old reef tank that uses asphalt for rock and an undergravel filter. So a lot of the old stuff still works.
