i have read in some articles that vodka dosing can lead to burnt tips on corals. I have one sps that looks like it has a burnt tip so i was curious on some thoughts here.

carbon dosing can increase light penetration since it not only feeds bacteria, but binds with the organics in the water column (more production from skimmer) and tends to clear the water well.

I've always experienced issues with minor bleaching or apparent burnt tips when my DKH was above 9 and my PO4 was <0.02 mg/l (ppm).

so it looks like vodka dosing is not causing a burnt tip?

I don't think it is carbon dosing per se, but too low of nutrients (however attained) with higher alkalinity that leads to burnt tips. The most likely hypothesis is that skeletal growth outpaces tissue growth.

Thanks Randy and everyone else, my mind is at ease
