Just wondering if vodka would sink to the bottom of a limewater container? Like its heavier than water or something like that.

:confused:Let me guess, you want to try dosing both at the same time?o_O

Yes I already do but im worried the vodka may be too concentrated at the bottom and overdose the tank. Its not stirred limewater.

Actually, ethanol has a low specific gravity. Vodka has a SG of about 0.9497-ish, so it is lighter than water, or limewater, for that matter. Ethanol is also "miscible", which means that it tends to mix nicely in aqueous solutions, so the issue you are worried about shouldn't be a problem.

Great jim thanks. I had a crazy bacterial bloom with 20ml of 80 proof put into a 5 gallon auto top off. Thats in 40 gallons. Doses about 1.5 gallons a day of limewater/vodka mix. I thought it was sinking to the bottom lol.

No, it will stay fully mixed.

Randy,
Is it common practice to mix ethanol and kalkwasser?
I have never heard of doing that?

Some people do. More mix vinegar because you can dissolve more calcium hydroxide into it that way, and it offsets the pH rise.

That said, I dosed both vinegar and limewater for years and never thought it optimal to combine them because I wanted them dosed at different times of day and to have more independent control over them.
