Here is a perfect example of why I added volt meters to my battery backups. One thing I wish Vortech would pay attention to.
Back up batteries are such an important part of your reef tank, or should be!

I never would have known the battery was going bad. I normally would test them once a week but only for 20/30 min. The battery would last fine and I’d be happy. Not knowing it’s slowly loosing power. Until...I lost power for a few hours and it stopped working.

Hence the reason for two backups and the volt meters. Now a simple $30 battery and 10 minutes of work my system will be protected again. Just something to think about. A simple $7 meter can go a long ways to save a few $1000 in fish and coral. Or in my case $237 in fish and coral.

Care to share how you wired them in?

I’ve got two meters and two batteries ready to go.

Thanks

No prob, it’s easy enough. I used a small drill but and drilled out the rivits. I replaced them with small screws for easy access later. Drill slow, don’t want you drilling into your battery!

Then Just wire up the meter straight to the battery terminals and run the cord out the vent or drill a new hole for the meter cord.
