I have a mp 10 Vor tech that i have had for about 8 months now,it is getting very loud now when it is going thru its cycle. What could be its cause?

Calcium carbonate deposits or something else in the impeller housing. Took mine apart and cleaned it and it helped with this.

check the propeller on the wet side as well, magnet could be warped, happened to mine, 20.00 fix. If its the wet side propeller, take it out and look at the magnet on the bottom, if its not flush its broke. If its the impeller on the dry side, put it on by itself, and if u still hear the noise then you know it can only be the dry side, i think the dry side is much more expensive to replace though...

it can be either side for sure. I had one where the ceremic broke. another where the dry side went out. and another where..... um i left the dry side in the tank when it was filling....(not recommended)

Thank for all of the feedback. Will clean the wet side first and go from there.

I have a bud that runs his 100% all the time. It's 9 months old and sounds like a chain saw. Lesson is they aren't meant to run at high levels. Ive had mine for 6 months and run it at 50% and it's totally silent still.

Not true, not only do I but plenty of my reefing buddies run them at full tilt with what I would consider low noise.

Turn the power off.
Hold the dry side in your hand.
Turn the power on.
If the noise is coming from the dry side you know it's a bearing and it will need to be sent back to Ecotech for a replacement. They're pretty good about this as long as it's under warranty.

I've seen two MP10's do this on the same tank but my guess is that the glass was too thick for the MP10 and it had to work harder to spin the propeller. I could be wrong but I've seen plenty last forever on tanks with thinner glass, yet this 120 chewed MP10's up all day long.

I end up sending the pump back to Eco Tech it is still under warranty.

Just got an e-mail from eco-tech.They are sending one out tomorrow to replace the old one.

mine get loud every 6 weeks or so and I soak the wet sides in white vinegar overnight and they sound good as new.

Does anyone know when Eco Tech repairs the wet side do they repair or replace?it looks like an sealed unit
