I noticed on ecotech website the rated gph pumps are changed.
MP10 use to be 1500 now it claims 2500, Mp40 was what 4200 now its 5000 and the MP60 went from 7500 to 9000
I thought no hardware was changed. so how come the huge gph jump in the pumps now?

Hmmn, that’s a good catch! Maybe they’ve cone up with a more refined way to measure flow .... or maybe it’s just marketing hyperbole :D. The only thing that I’m aware has changed is the rolling out of mobius control. Hard to see how that would result in higher flow.

Most likely it's because all the water movers for saltwater tanks advertise tons more than they actually move. You are lucky to get 1/4th what most write on the box.
Look at all the people trying to get 100x turnover ...if you had 100x turnover for real you wouldn't just have sand blowing around your rockwork would be too.

I can tell you that a Tunze 6255 moves more water than a mp60 and one is rated at 4800 and the other is rated a 9000 now. It is so hard to measure this stuff since spread and velocity are so hard and so many other variables matter. EcoTech has a history of fibbing a bit - did the invent a "lab" or "engineering firm"* to do these test that is 100% them doing it. :)

*quotes again for Simon.
