I’ve a bunch of quiet drives since first released and all are still going strong .... have bought a couple of spare wetsides and a half dozen of the cages. I am having to start replacing the MP60 wetsides, but none of the MP40s yet. I have spare cages so I can mechanically clean the base and magnet assembly with a toothbrush and screw on a clean cage and back in it goes. Fouled cage goes into vinegar as there’s nothing to damage and it becomes the clean cage for the next cleaning interval. Recently retired my last pre-QD vintage 40 .... rubber grommets had all split and it was just too noisy.

I have a Jebao and it last 2 years now, never intentionally clean it.
Lfs has mp40's that have been running for 5 years now. They almost never get cleaned.
I wont buy them anymore but the jeabo pumps are quite good for the money imo!
They are now relegated to backup pumps after cleaning.
Lfs mp40's look similar with heavy coralline builup like my retired jeabos.

I have about 4 years on both of my MP40's.
Had to replace a wetside last year when one of the blades broke off.
But both just as quiet as new.

MP40's purchased with my first tank in December 2017, one of the wetsides started to swell just last month. I never used vinegar, only used Citric Acid to clean. I probably could have cleaned more frequently. I think in the 2.5 years I deep cleaned them 4 times. So right at 6 months per cleaning.

I seem to get 4 years of usable life out of them. I have all 3 flavors & the issues I have is that the magnet bursts, the shaft breaks & they get loud. Currently, I have a new-ish wet side on my MP60 (due to magnet bursting) and I can't run it. It's sooo loud. It runs on an in-wall aquarium & I can hear it in the other room.
But because I've had soo many issues with them, I'm not getting anymore. I love their random modes & no wires in the tank, but.....the durability & noise factor are not there for me.

Is the noise from the wetside or the motor?

In that instance, I believe it's from the wet site.
I put a MP-10 out of commission because of the dry side noise.
I mixed & matched parts to bring up my other MP10.
