My MP10 was making a louder than usual sound today, so I took the opportunity to clean the wetside and try and reseat the dry side. Since taking it apart and cleaning it, I've put it back together and now the wetside is being turned slowly on the inside of the tank.

I've taken it out for the time being whilst I try and figure out what is going on, but has anyone else seen this before and if so how did you fix it?

How did you clean it? I like to soak the wet side in citric acid for a couple of hours, then run it for 10 minutes while submerged (obviously the dry side can't get wet) before giving it a good rinse in RO water. That helps clear any debris that might gum up the impeller.

"Turning slowly" may indicate the shafts not lined up with the cover. I would pull it apart one time and make sure the hole in the cover lined up with impeller shaft. I know the VorTech I bought used makes a little noise, its not the wet side, ended being the dry side, so I'm living with it for now. I will replace it shortly if I decide to run all 4. Also I keep one extra westside to move in and out while cleaning...good luck...

I think I see the problem... There is a white shaft that appears to have snapped off.

Normally that is inside.... and if I look with a tourch, I can see the other half of it.

Could that be the problem?

You need to really give the inside of the tanks glass a good scrubbing as well as the foam back on the wetside. Or else the wetside will slowly spin due to low friction with the biofilm.

The shaft is a seperate issue and you should contact ecotech right away for a warranty claim to get a new wetside.
