Vortech MP40 problem

I sent VorTech support an email and figured I would post here also. Got my pump about two days ago and everything has worked out great till about an hour ago. The dry side is making a continous noise like ckrickets chirping or bearings needing greese. Anyone have a clue?

Mine did the same thing, ecotech will send a brand new wetside. They take great care of there customers.

I really don't think its the wet side though, I did a test. Took the wet side out of the tank, held the dry side in my hand and pluged it in, no chirping noise, then touched the dry side to the tank with no wet side in the tank, chirping noise began again, removed it from the side of the tank, the noise stopped. I am trying Acrolic Reefers idea at the moment, putting the rubber gasket between the wet side and the glass, so far so good, its only been a few min. though.

The rubber gasket goes between the dryside and the tank. Check the settings on your pin spacer, you may have it too tight. See top of page 9 of the manual. If not set correctly, you can get binding between the dryside and the magnet in the wetside which could cause the noise you are describing.
