I purchased a used setup a while back and am now in the process of setting it up. I have a build thread in the cube tanks forums.

I got 2 used MP40s. One of them appears to be sliding a little bit. This is the dry side that keeps sliding down. The other one seems fine. I don't have the sticky tab so I used a cable stickie i bought at lowes but I have to use 3 of them or else they pull off. Is there a better way to mount the mp40 to make sure it stays in place? Are there some hanging brackets which attach to the top of the tank wall I can use?

The same pump which slides also makes what sounds like a whistling \ squealing sound at times if i turn it up high enough. Thanks in advance.

Do you have it set for the right glass (or acrylic) thickness? If that's not right I could see it slipping.

I have it set correctly. I even tried setting for thicker glass but still slides down. The magnet is too weak.

Even with the dryside properly set it will still move and slide a little without the rubber gasket that goes between the glass and the dryside

So...how thick is your glass? I looked at your build thread (very nice BTW) and the glass doesnt look to thick. But..still asking.

Sounds like it's not mounted right - and/or possibly already somewhat broken. I have one (not in service) in similar condition.

The wet and dry sides must be dead-even during running or BAD THINGS will happen. A defect is less likely (since yours is used) but could cause the same thing.

If you haven't already I'd contact the manufacturer to get them to help confirm this and to determine if it's something minor like a bushing or something worse like the motor.

Once you know where you want you pump, get the gasket wet and stick it on the glass. It acts as a ledge/suction cup for the dry side to sit on.

That rubber partition needs to be set on the dry side perfectly. I had a brand new one installed on my 93 cube and was having similar issues where I didn't see it slide down but I heard the motor vibration indicating the motor wasn't aligned correctly. I readjusted the rubber partition and it did the job for me. Sometimes you think it's on perfect but the smallest infraction will throw it off sooner or later. Good luck!

I will try all of these suggestions and report back once I've had more time to experiment.

I took some plastic anchors the type used for some tents and hung them from the back wall... i then drilled a hole through them and used a zip tie to attach to the cable from the MP40... you can't see the setup at all and it holds them from sliding down.
