I have just added a new Mp40 to my Reefer 250.
It is running in Reef Crest mode at the moment at about 40% which is giving me ample flow. I would like to lower the flow rate in constant mode during the lights off period but without Reeflink I can't see a way of doing this.
Am I missing something or am I just stuck in Reefcrest mode until I get a Reeflink?

You can put the controller into night mode. This will lower the speed at night, but will not change the program. It will stay in reef crest.

I've just read that in the instructions. It says that it lowers the speed to 50% as default.
Is that 50% of the speed you have set it to?

Note, my night time drifts some. What that means is it might go into night mode at 9, then a few months later it might be 9:30. It’s easy to reset, just a heads up.

Good to know, thanks.
Do you manually set night mode or is yours set via Reeflink?

I use the reeflink on my two mp40’s. I set it manually with my mp60. I’ve always had trouble with my reeflink and the mp60. After many calls I finally just gave up.

Honestly you can buy a reef link used for 50-75 and it makes programming so much easier
I will end up getting one. It's just that I went into my LFS with the plan of getting a Nero 5 which was at the top end of my budget. Walked out with a MP40 so

When the shock of buying an MP40 wears off I will definitely get one.

I love my WXM to control my 4 MP40’s. I have no experience with reeflink so I can’t comment on it though.

Night mode programmed via the cludgy buttons on the controller works OK. So much better to do it through either APEX WXM or Reeflink. If you do the latter, hard wire the reeflink and use chrome as your browser. Avoids a bunch of hair pulling.

So what is the controller on these for if I can't do anything with it to control an already super expensive mp40? Are you telling me that I have to buy a very crappy and problematic reeflink (another $100) or an apex to control one of these? I just bought 2 of these mp40's and I have not even opened the boxes yet. They are going back ($366 each) if this is the only way to control them. Can someone chime in that has experience with these? I wouldn't mind purchasing a reeflink if a) it was decently funtional and b) the mp40's themselves didn't already cost a premium price of $366 each. Is there no bluetooth?

I'm already on the fence about sending the battery backup back that I bought for these mp40's. I purchased Jan 6, 2020 and when it arrived I saw the date on the box said mfg Oct 5, 2018. It means I start out 15 month down with this battery. If I send it back I have to pay shipping. If I resell the first thing out of everyones mouth is what is the mfg date.

Reef Link and WXM are the only ways to control the MP's as of today.

Mobius is their newer cloud based/wifi or bluetooth solution (Not sure on the tech) and should be live very soon. Its already out in the app store for IOS so I'd expect it to be fully live in the next couple of months. All new pumps have been sold over the last year/year and half with the upgraded RF chips in preperation of release.

Edit: FWIW I have had a Reef Link for 3 years and in all that time I have needed to reboot it twice. Solid as a rock for me.

You are one of the few if you go by the reviews on BRS. But I will keep the mp40's knowing they will have a mobile app for them soon. Thanks for the info. I won't be buying a reeflink unless someone sells one really cheap on here. I can wait knowing the new Mobius solution is coming

I purchased my Reef link from BRS and I love it. I would not operate any Ecotech devices without it. I agree get it used or however you can it's worth it.
Hopefully it will no longer be needed with the new app Scurvy said was soon to be released

It is my understanding that they can “talk to one another” via the WiFi in them. Ability to run in sync or anti-sync mode. But they stay that way. My WXM allows them to cycle through any mode at any intensit, I cannot speak for reeflink as I have no experience with one.
