Question for those who have multiple vortechs, do you have yours slaved to each other? The reason I'm asking is, I'm looking to do the same to mine and trying to figure out the best route. Currently, when I use one of my feed modes on my Apex, it cuts power to the Vortechs and powers them off (I don't use the vortech feed mode). If I set up the master/slave relationship with just using the pumps, i.e. no WXM module or Reeflink, and then enter feed mode on my Apex, will that completely wipe the master/slave setup or will they reconnect to each other when power is restored? If I decide to get either a WXM or Reeflink, when the Apex feed mode is done and the vortechs power back up, the WXM or Reeflink should take care of the master/slave relationship correct?

Correct.
Fusion is the way to go on the APEX.
I had a reef link but like the program on the APEX better and faster.
You can link your pumps to the feed mode or outlet to be turned off when feed mode on.
Personally I don't turn anything off when feed, let the fish chase it like on the reef for them.

The reason I turn them off is I spot feed my sun corals, dendros, and a few others at times so having the pumps off at that time makes it easier to feed them. So if I go the WXM route, it would then be possible to have them power off when in feed mode and then restart in a sync or anti-sync fashion?

they will restart by themself if you program'em that way one by one after the feed mode is done.

Using the WXM, you can setup your pumps on a feed mode, mine is B. I have them programmed to turn back on after 10-15 minutes after I set the feed mode so I can feed, give the corals long enough to capture the food and not worry about forgetting to turn the pumps back on. I have my Vortech, return pump and skimmer setup to turn off in feed mode B. Works like a charm and my corals are loving it:)
