I'm having an odd issue with my Vortech MP-40 QD.... after owning it for about two years, the motor will no longer make a magnetic connection through the glass and match up with the wet side.

Nothing has changed... glass is clean. Any ideas?

Have you inspected the magnets closely for corrosion? Ecotech had some issues with the magnets coating cracking and water intrusion.

I have to mp40s in my tank and the same thing happens to me when they need to be cleaned I normally soak them and white vinegar and RO water for at least 24 hours and give them a good scrub then rinse them off let them dry out put them back in the tank and they're good to go for another month or two

thx! I'll try a good bath and report back

I was having the same issue, wet side started falling off after restart from a complete stop. Checked the magnet and it had split. I contacted ET and they said they will replace it. As mentioned I strongly suggest checking the magnet on a regular basis.

Same thing happened to me, so I sent in 2 of my mp-40’s and they tested everything. Had 2 bad wet sides, they replaced, and one dry side I had to pay half price for. Might be worth sending it in! My 2 cents!

I literally just started a thread about the same problem with my mp10. I suppose I’m gonna have to inspect it further than I did. Craziness.

hmmm soaked overnight. put it back on the tank. Spun off in like 2 seconds.

This westside appears to be sealed -- my other one comes apart. Am I missing something?

Call Ecotech directly, they will provide a solution. They are very helpful. [emoji4]

Could also be the dry side. I had to replace one of my dry side for because it was not spinning freely.

Wet side is not sealed. Search YouTube for how to disassemble.

Have the magnets to come in contact with other magnets or energized motors. Magnets can be demagnetized by an electrical magnetic field. Can change their magnetic poles or weaken them.

I just put the dry side on my other MP-40... working fine... so finally some good news.

Try turning off power. Mounting then turning back on power. If that doesn’t work. Pull the power cord. Leave off for a minute. Plug back in and repower back up. Sometimes it’s not a wear in the casing but somehow the electric reversed the magnet polarities.
