VorTech through Glass wave maker patent

does VorTech have a patent on making pumps that are half in the tank and half out? they seem to be the only ones doing it and charging like 6 times as much as a pump from my LFS. anyone familiar with this at all? i could probably with some free time make my own with spare parts and my 3D printer but i dont have much spare time these days.
