Hi all, I have a nano tank (16 gallon) it is now 3 months old, maybe a bit more. So far I have avoided the "uglies" My parametrs are fairly clean P04= between0.03 and 0.08 and nitrates circa 12.5PPM. Just recently I have small blobs of algae about the size of a fingernail. How can I have algae with fairly ideal parameters? I have kissil lighting and do a 50%water change every week. I am currently dosing Dr Tim's Aquarium systems unidose algae remover and about 5 days in.
Could somebody please enlighten me as to what typr of algae and possible cause? I dond understand what it is feeding on..............any ideas?

Looks like hair algae. If you have corals, snails, live rock ect.. it can come on those.

It’s hair algae and likely from nitrates
Reduce feeding amount and leave whites off for now
Pull as much as you can by hand and test your phosphate and nitrate levels
Add some snails:
Turbo
Astrea
Nassarius
Trochus
