Hey Reefers,

So... I'm sitting here just thinking (a danger to the world at large, trust me ;Hilarious), and I realize that I have spent the majority of my time on this forum just waiting for things to happen.

Waiting to save up enough money for the kind of tank I want. Waiting for the contractor to evaluate the floor and the electrician to re-wire the outlets. Waiting for the tank builder to get back to me. Waiting for the design to be finalized. Waiting for another tank builder to get back to me after the first one went under. Waiting for the new tank to be built... You get the idea.

Meanwhile...

Are any of you in the same boat? What kinds of reef-related things do you do in the meantime to keep your interest level up?

I know that good things come to those who wait, and having a captive reef that is beautiful resilient, and long-lasting is a marathon not a sprint, I just didn't think it would take this long to reach the starting line.

Currently I am either waiting on word to relocate and/or job swap and settle into a place before I set up a tank (even though I sort of want to set up something on the DL here at my apt).

So I am reading forums, watching BRS & Tidal Garden youtube channel, and surfing R2R to try and learn as much as possible.

My wife helps me a lot on these kinds of projects. She tells me the new tank is too big, or the equipment cost too much, or the tape is in the wrong place. That's why I'm on here to get support from nice people with the same interests.

Looks like a good start so far. Also, I visit the vendors sites and look at frags she won't let me buy and I figure out ways to stow away money so she'll never find out.

Yeah I've been there with the move thing. Recently had to relocate from California to Florida myself. Tough stuff, especially in the Dumpster Fire otherwise known as 2020.

Yeah, my S/O and I luckily don't have shared finances yet so whenever I'm asked how much X is gonna cost or how much electricity is it going to use...

It’s fun to plan aquascaping and fish list, so you are ready to go once everything is in place! One of the most rewarding things in this hobby is you can’t rush or buy your way into success, the best equipment can only do so much if you don’t know how to use it or pay attention to what you are doing. Your patience will pay off!!
