I’ve been waiting for almost 2 maybe 3 years for this juv emperor to grow and transition .

Is The fading at the top the beginning of transitions or is it just faded from lights just coming on about 20 mins ago ?

I was almost tempted to buy one yesterday at the lfs but refuse to pay $400 for it

Its up to the fish, diet and tank conditions. On average it takes about 2 years for full transistion

I don't know how long it takes, as I bought mine like this, but here is my transitioning emperor for reference.

I bought mine it was maybe 1.5”
Just a tiny little
Guy …

He’s roughly the same size as my yellow tang . Just as fat but still juv colour .
I’ve had him over 2 years maybe even closer to 3
