Hi all,

I am new to all of this and wanted your opinion on my wall hammer. Does it look like it is dying or is something else going on? I've had it for about 2-3 months and It always had beautiful extension. Thanks!

Looks like its on its way out to me. You may be able to stop the skin from receding by using super glue, essentially gluing down the flesh edges to the skeleton. This has worked for me before. May want to check all your parameters and making sure its getting enough light as well.

Thanks for the response! Did your whole hammer recover and regrow when you did that?

My experience has been that once an area is gone, its gone. If you can stop it from getting worse and let it heal a bit maybe cut the dead area off. It doesn't help at all to have the coral rubbing up against the sharp skeleton ridges.

what are your parameters? the last time I had something melted like that was when I first started in the hobby and topped off with fresh saltwater ... basically destroyed my corals

No, unfortunately only the portion I glued and the rest of the healthy tissue was save. I cut the rest of it off once the coral healed a little. This can also work on other LPS. Cool little trick that one of the members posted.
