Wall mounted false rim for mounting equipment (mostly lights)

Thinking about making a wall mountable bracket that sits behind the tank that acts as a false rim for rim mounted lights? I was thinking of doing this because the kessil mounting bracket is huge and otherwise would be mounting on thin glass (small tank). That said I think this could be a solution for rimmed tanks as well. . . has anyone done this?

I would probably use wood stained black or dark to match the stand.

Cool idea. Just be sure to use long enough screws to get it into studs of wall deep enough. Depending on length from wall it may sag from weight.
