Putting up a 500 gal.
Regarding the wall of the house behind the tank....
it was recommend to hang acrylic - I am concerned with cutting it.
Any one ever used some time of clear coat paint or Schlack or something that can be painted onto the wall behind the tank to prevent creep damage and peeling ?
Thank you for your time

"Green board" drywall meant for damp environments like bathrooms works. Semi gloss paints work well. Exhaust fan in the area behind the wall will help with humidity.

Couple ideas

Benjamin Moore Aura Bath and Spa Paint.

Water proof the wall with a membrane then tile.

I would utilize plastic painters sheeting or a bathroom drywall panel to absorb splash

You can have acrylic cut to size at Lowe’s or Home Depot. That’s going to be the best looking option and most color choices (or clear).
FRP panels if you are looking for something cheaper.
ABS plastic if you you want something that you can cut that with a utility knife. I think it only comes in black.
