Having got my first Wall type hammer after caring for the branching variety for a while now, I have a few questions...

On a branching hammer, it's clear each "head" is a single polyp, with one mouth, that will occasionally split and grow, upwards, into new heads.

What happens with a wall hammer? Are there multiple polyps? Or is it a single large "giant" polyp? How many mouths are there? Multiple ones spread out? Or just a big one in the middle somewhere? Do they grow outwards and upwards, line a cone? Or can they grow sideways, putting down calcium carbonate as they go, like SPS do?

Thanks for the time!

there are multiple mouths if the wall hammer is big enough. They grow out to the side
